Did you recently install a water butt kit with a feed from the garage downpipe after taking time to read the instructions and even watched a Youtube video on it but somehow somewhere it looks like it is overflowing? Look no further as we have the perfect fix for you!

Why is My Water Butt Overflowing? & How to Fix It!

Check where the pipe comes out of the downpipe.

Ensure it needs not be higher than the top of the water butt. If higher, your water will constantly flow into the butt. But, if its lower than the top of the water then it would be impossible for the butt to overflow. So, correct this.

Remember, water can only fill but only to the height of where the pipe comes out of the down pipe.

I have drawn a line in the photo above to show where the pipe first came out of the down pipe, and you would agree with me that it is slightly higher than the top of the water butt.
